BLESSINGS IN A BACKPACK

The Blessings in a Backpack program steps-up by feeding children on the weekend. Every Friday afternoon, children receive backpacks filled with kid-friendly, ready-to-eat items. Students return every Monday morning with an empty backpack, a full stomach, and an eager mind. In schools with Blessings in a Backpack programs, test scores, reading skills, positive behavior, general health, and attendance have improved dramatically as a result of children getting the nourishment they need.
Veterans Park Academy for the Arts is currently feeding approximately 65 students weekly and hopes to increase the number of recipients to 100 within the next six months.

JUMP ROPE FOR HEART

Jump Rope for Heart is an annual tradition at VPAA that helps raise money for heart research. In short, Jump Rope for Heart was designed with four simple goals: Get kids active (by teaching them to jump rope). Educate kids about their hearts, and heart-healthy habits. Raise money for cardiovascular research and outreach programs.

UNIFORM DONATIONS

Have your kids grown like weeds this year? Have you accumulated uniform items that no longer fit? If so, please consider donating them to Veterans Park. Your donation will help families who struggle to buy uniforms, particularly those who are new to our school. Please drop off your clean, gently used, laundered uniforms in the middle school office for student's 4th - 8th grade or in the elementary office for students in Pre -K thru 3rd grade, or send them in with your child.
