Parent Memo on Distance Learning 4.1.20.pdf

Dear SDLC families,

As we shared with you back in December of 2019, the Florida State Board of Education required school districts to provide to mandatory instruction for the 2019-2020 school year in health education topics related to mental and emotional wellness, substance use/abuse prevention, and child trafficking prevention.  To fulfill these requirements, the School District of Lee County has been utilizing the Edgenuity Purpose Prep prevention curriculum, a developmentally appropriate, comprehensive offering with unique lessons focused on equipping students with strategies, resources and awareness related to the topics prescribed in the State Board of Education Rules.

This instruction was being offered in the classroom setting prior to the start of distance learning.  As learning will continue virtually for the rest of the school year, we want to make sure that you are aware that this curriculum is still accessible to you and your child. This curriculum includes video clips, lessons, and discussion topics for you to share with your child at home. You can access these lessons at launchpad.leeschools.net.

For your reference, we’ve included the letter we sent out to families back in December.

Thank you for your partnership,

The School District of Lee County

At Veterans Park Academy for the Arts, we strive to provide every student an avenue to success through academics, creative and expressive arts, and athletics.
