AVID Program

AVID stands for Advancement Via Individual Determination. AVID is a class which prepares students for four-year college eligibility. AVID students are enrolled in advanced courses and attend an academic elective class called AVID. AVID serves over 250,000 students across the nation helping to achieve their goals.

AVID is a voluntary elective. Students interested in enrolling in AVID must:

  • Fill out the application
  • Return the completed application before the current deadline to the VPAA Middle School Office.
  • Go through an interview

What are the Student Requirements?

AVID students must:

  • Attend an AVID elective class.
  • Enroll in one or more advanced academic class (Pre-AP or AP at the High School level and honors/advance classes at the Middle Level) each semester.
  • Maintain satisfactory behavior and attendance in all classes.
  • Maintain the AVID binder with assignment/grade record sheets and daily notes in all classes.
  • Complete all homework assignments and commit to studying every night
